The acceleration and investment readiness program of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya - BarcelonaTech (UPC), Next Frontier Founders, promoted by the UPC with the support of Fractus and the Fractus - UPC Deep Tech Hub, dedicated the session of 16 January to connecting start-ups and spin-offs with possible investors, both private individuals and representatives of companies and entities, to facilitate collaboration opportunities.

Founders and investors made a pitch-type presentation, in which the former briefly explained their business projects and the latter the characteristics they look for to invest in this type of technological companies and the financing they can provide them. Next, each spin-off or start-up held six one-to-one meetings of 15 minutes with the investors to go deeper into their explanations and ask questions. In this way, entrepreneurs received feedback on their ideas and were able to establish valuable connections that can be useful for the development and growth of their companies.

The session counted on the companies of Next Frontier Founders Helix AI, Datlantis ReGen, Folgrid Technologies SL, ARTIVIT AI SL (Numerand), byNeural, Naso Shield, MiWEndo Solutions, MOAI Tech, Strathens Technologies SL, Mesai and May One. Three companies created by alumni of the University also participated: Slimop Space, which develops highly competitive optical instruments for mini and nano satellites in the field of Earth observation; Neod, which offers an intelligent assistant to centralize tasks and reminders and simplify day-to-day life; and ecoDeliver, which proposes a disruptive technology for efficient and collaborative transport.

On the investment side, the Business angels Albert Domingo, Roger Baranera, Sandra Arevalo and Jordi Gili attended, and representatives of La Mútua dels Enginyers, Sabadell Venture Capital, Abac Nest, Criteria Venture Tech, Fons Fita, Lumo Labs, l’Institut Català de les Finances, 4 Founders Capital, Inclimo and Archipiélago Next also took part.

With this meeting, the eight practical modules offered by the program came to an end. In the next sessions, entrepreneurs will participate in workshops to prepare a pitch that, in some cases, they will present at 4YFN, parallel to MWC Barcelona.
