Fractus and the UPC create a technological hub to develop deep tech solutions
Fractus and the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya – BarcelonaTech (UPC) have agreed to create the Fractus-UPC Deep Tech Hub, a center of research activities where deep tech technologies will be designed and improved, with the aim of developing disruptive technological solutions based on scientific challenges with great potential and social impact.
This partnership aims to boost talent development, innovation, and technology transfer activities, fostering deep tech startups rooted in scientific discoveries or technological innovations. Their efforts target areas like mobility, sustainability, information technology, and advanced materials, with a focus on quantum computing, photonics, AI, cybersecurity, robotics, electronics, and advanced materials.
On September 13, 2022, the dean of UPC, Daniel Crespo, and Fractus' Chairman and CEO, Rubén Bonet, signed an agreement focused on addressing contemporary challenges through significant scientific and technological advancements. This partnership promotes research, innovation, and knowledge transfer in areas like mobility, materials, sustainability, urban planning, information technology, biomedical engineering, and environmental and energy technologies. The hub's primary areas of focus include quantum computing, photonics, AI, cybersecurity, robotics, electronics, and advanced materials.
Deep Tech Cluster
The UPC is one of the main Deep Tech clusters in Europe, with a powerful core of research groups that research and develop technological innovation in this field and from which several spin-offs and start-ups have emerged, such as Fractus.
