Technologies to change the world:
spreading about deep tech through a podcast
November 5, 2024. The dissemination of deep tech is also one of the relevant objectives of the Fractus UPC Deep Tech Hub. For this reason, the UPC, in collaboration with the Hub, has just released an episode of the "Algorrritmes" podcast series, which explains what deep tech is and some keys to the creation of the Fractus company. The program featured Carles Puente, co-founder of Fractus and professor at ETSETB, and Eneko Ibarlucea, a young Fractus professional who is an alumni of the UPC. In the podcast, both reflect in an understandable language on how these technologies make people's lives easier and advance sustainability and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The Fractus UPC Deep Tech Hub very present at the Barcelona Deep Tech Summit
November 8, 2024. Once again, the UPC and the company Fractus have been very present in the technological event that takes place in Barcelona in the environment of deep tech and that, this year, coincided with the call for the Smart City Expo World Congress. Fractus participated in the sessions titled "Matching corporations with start-ups", which took place on November 5 at the Conectio Event.
In turn, the University presented its entrepreneurial ecosystem, as well as the intense activity that drives a fortnight of start-ups and spin-offs characterized by their disruptive technology and which have been created in the environment of the UPC.

Fractus bets on young talent with the PARS Excellence Scholarship and the Award for the Best TFM in Cybersecurity
Sep 18, 2024. In its commitment to the development of talent in the technological field, Fractus has awarded two UPC outstanding students. Ignacio Martínez Bañeres, from the Barcelona School of Telecommunications Engineering (ETSETB), has been awarded the Fractus PARS Excellence Scholarship. On the other hand, the student Antonio Alarcón García-Saavedra has received the award for Best Master's Thesis in Cybersecurity. Read more
Innovative technology to reduce fuel consumption of humanitarian ship Open Arms
Jul 22, 2024. Researchers from the FNB-UPC are developing a new system based on machine learning technologies, one of the techniques of artificial intelligence, with the aim of reducing fuel consumption and improving the energy efficiency of the boats of the NGO Open Arms, focused on rescuing people at sea.
Called FNB-Open Arms, this is the first case of technology transfer carried out under the umbrella of the Fractus-UPC Deep Tech Hub and the UPC to promote innovation and market introduction of deep tech technologies in various fields. Read more
Fractus Unveils New Talent Support Initiative at Fractus-UPC Deep Tech Hub
Jun 10, 2024. Fractus has launched a programme this year to support students at the UPC. This initiative, part of the Fractus-UPC Deep Tech Hub, includes scholarships, prizes and challenges for hundreds of students in various engineering fields, and aligns with the company's strategy to promote higher education, specialisation and the academic and research careers of future professionals in technological fields whose skills are increasingly in demand. Strategic Alliances between University and Business: Technology and Talent for Innovation

Fractus-UPC Deep Tech Hub launches From Lab to Market, its new technology transfer program
May 7, 2024. Fractus has designed and built together with UPC its From Lab to Market program, through the Fractus-UPC Deep Tech Hub. The program is focused on the identification and transfer of cutting-edge technologies and kicks off with four key innovations poised to revolutionize strategic sectors. Apr 27, 2024. The Social Hub Barcelona has been the epicentre of an extraordinary celebration: the 10th anniversary of the Challenge Based Innovation (CBI) programme! Carles Puente, representing Fractus, was participated in this roundtable on the growth of the startup ecosystem in Europe and the importance of intellectual property in securing successful funding. In this context, Puente pointed out that "patents are not defensive tools, patents are business tools that deep tech companies should embed in the core of their business models". Fractus supports tech talent through the Fractus-UPC Deep Tech Hub
Feb 10, 2024. Fractus awarded the Fractus Prize to the best academic record of the Master’s degree in Technology and Engineering Management to the student Laia Martínez Capella. The delivery took place during the graduation ceremony of more than 850 students from the School of Industrial, Aeronautical and Audiovisual Engineering of Terrassa (ESEIAAT) of the UPC. Read more

Awards to the best technology transfer projects
Sep 27, 2023. The 14th UPC Research Valorisation Award has recognised 4DPolysense as the best technology transfer project, the NECADA program as the best invention or work for its application in the market and the Process Talks spin-off as the best technology-based company. The Nimble Diagnostics spin-off has also received a special acknowledgement. The award is supported by Fractus as part of the Fractus Deep Tech Hub. Read more
